The classic Absheron pool season runs mid-May to end-September. Heating adds 2 months (April-October). Which system, cost and who each fits.

1. Three main options

1) Heat pump — pulls heat from air, runs on electricity. Most efficient. 2) Gas boiler — fast heating, higher running cost. 3) Solar collectors — free energy, sun-dependent. Most pick 1 or a combo (heat pump + solar).

2. Cost and running

For 30 m²: heat pump 10-12 kW — 3,800-6,500 AZN install, 180-320 AZN/mo in-season. Gas boiler 30-40 kW — 2,200-4,500 AZN, 280-520 AZN/mo. Solar 12 m² — 3,200-5,800 AZN, 0 running but sun-dependent.

3. Real season extension

Heat-pump 30 m² pool: April 15 to October 20, water 26-28 °C. Season 4 → 6 months. Extra 60 days — for a family and Airbnb this is +30-50% revenue (spring-autumn peaks).

4. Combo: heat pump + solar

Optimal: heat pump (main) + solar (support). Solar covers 50-70% of load — bill drops to 60-140 AZN/mo. Extra solar payback — 3-4 seasons. Over 15 years saves 20,000+ AZN.

5. Pool cover

Uncovered pool loses 4-8 °C per night (evaporation). Simple thermal cover (roll) — 250-500 AZN, cuts loss. Auto roll cover — 2,200-6,500 AZN. Cover cuts heating cost by 60-70%.
