1. Materials to avoid
Five problem materials: 1) cheap MDF (formaldehyde); 2) vinyl laminate (phthalates); 3) polyester carpet (VOCs); 4) cheap PU paint (isocyanates); 5) Chinese synthetic lacquers. These release 15-25 VOCs over 2-3 years — risk for a family with kids.
2. Certified wood
